Class times: Fridays 5:30 - 9:42 pm at the Pool
Class Description: This class is designed to give you a Red Cross certificate as a Water Safety Instructor r.2003. That is all that is required for the semester. However, there will be opportunity for students to get additional certificates if they are willing to put in the extra hours. These extra certificates include:

Special Note: The Red Cross released new WSI materials in Spring 2004 and this class will be teaching those materials and issuing the new certificate.  The new Red Cross Lifeguard Training program released in Jan. 2007 will be used for all Lifeguard Training content.

Required Red Cross Textbooks:

Optional  Red Cross Textbooks used for LGI Certifications Also Required at each class: textbooks, paper, pen/pencil, swimsuit, goggles, towel.

 No watches and no jewelry are allowed during the LGT portion of the class or when teaching children.

4/20 Fitness Principles, Training principles, water aerobics.  Begin Skills testing and buddy coaching

5/4 Begin LGI with new revisions for LGT.  LGI Lesson Plan Format, LGT Study Questions (2002)
5/11 LGI Continued in the water (Last day to drop with a W instead of a letter grade.)
5/18 LGI First Aid - with new Oxygen administration segment; LGI Written test on rescue skills & first aid
5/25 LGI CPR
6/1 LGI CPR concludes and includes AED
6/8 LGI CPR and AED Written Tests
