Course
Description and How It Can Meet a Variety of Student Needs
This class is designed to train students in the latest Red Cross Lifeguard
certification. The new Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification includes
the CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration, Airway Management, and first aid guidelines.
In addition you will get training in childbirth. The class will include
waterfront lifeguarding. Those students who possess current Lifeguard Training
certifications can earn instructor certifications in Lifeguard Training,
First Aid, CPR and AED. Additional manuals will be required and additional written assignments will be required of those students wishing instructor certification.
While this college class is specifically designed to meet the training
needs of lifeguards, those who desire to educate themselves in the area
of water safety to protect themselves and their loved ones, yet never intend
to work as a lifegaurd can and should take this class without worry about
passing LGT certification tests. The core knowledge will be of great benefit
to a wide variety of community members. All students will be required
to participate in all skills to the best of their ability.
There are several certificates that students who do not want to work
as lifeguards in the future can get as part of this class which are not
as physically demanding as the Lifeguard Training certification. These
alternate certificates include the following. Each certificate requires
it's own written tests and participation in some of the skills done by
the lifeguard training students.
