Learning is part of youth, and life-long learning is the fountain of
youth for the mind.
This server is a place where youth (of all ages) around the world can
safely meet each other, and participate in discussions, interactive
learning projects, and activities that meet their needs.
Interactive Projects For Grades K-12
March 2013
- Eratosthenes Experiment - on
Wednesday, March 20, 2013, students can calculate the Earth's
circumference by measuring the sun's angle at solar noon.
Continuing Projects
- National Student Research Center -
encourages students to use the scientific method of research. This
includes going through the formal process of hypothesizing, project
design, data collection, data analysis and evaluation. Electronic
journals are published of the student reports.
- The Federation Role-Playing Game -
a project where Star Trek (TM) enthusiasts with a flair for creative
writing go to learn a bit, and have some fun at the same time.
- Columbia Education Center's Mini Lessons
- approximately 500 lesson plans written by teachers from 14 states.
- Memories of the 1940's -
a Panel of Survivors who were young in the 1940's are responding to
questions from students, and paying testimony to those who quietly
endured, and sometimes lost on BOTH sides of the conflict.
- Victorian Letters and
Lives - Charles Dickens answers questions about his life and work in
the London of Queen Victoria's time, first as a young reporter and then
as the famous writer of many well-known books with their memorable
characters (who were often based on real people that he knew).
