My dear Miss Amy and Miss Becky,

A tall order you issue me! You can probably find much of what you want by
visiting various websites, not least the Dickens House's website
<http://www.rmplc.co.uk/orgs/dickens/>.
But let me give you a little information myself. My hobbies include
walking, billiards, and pugilism - watching the latter, that's to say, not
participating. Among my pets there have been dogs, cats, songbirds and ravens.
As for what inspires my work, that includes what has happened to me, what
I've done, and what I've read. "David Copperfield," for instance, took many
hints from the events of my own life. Much of "Martin Chuzzlewit" grew out
of my own travels in America. And I could not have written "A Tale of Two
Cities," without having read Mr Carlyle's noble work on the French Revolution.

Faithfully yours,

Charles Dickens
