My Dear Mr. Dickens :

I do not expect you to speak anymore than that which might reveal more of your
humanity and, as such, endear you even more to our hearts.  Your affair (one I
am left to understand was more one of the heart) with the young actress was a
bit one sided, so rumor has it, and the anguish of that unrequited union, it
is further rumored,  was the source of the smoke in your heart -- of which
"Great Expectations" was the fire.

The greatest of literature is the offspring of suffering, I think... starting
with the Bible.
