My dear Mr Bergman,

  What you conjecture, you conjecture wisely.  What is Estella if not
something remote, coldly sparkling, and unattainable?   Such at any case she
seemed to Pip for most of "Great Expecations," such indeed she was for most
of the book, such she would have remained had I not changed my mind and
brought them together at the end.
