My dear Miss Emmaie,

  Evidently you need to read a history book.  There are many on the French
Revoltion, many on English society at the same time.  Professor Andrew
Sanders has written a helpful "Companion to 'A Tale of Two Cities,'"
relating what is found in my novel to the history of the time.  You might
find that useful.
