My dear Miss Annette,

The sickness of the mind ever seemed to me more extraordinary and
disturbing than the sickness of the body, but you cannot expect me to
discuss it in terms that have become fashionable since my time, however much
I am declared to have anticipated the observations those terms are used to
describe. I leave that to modern sages.

Faithfully yours,

Charles Dickens
