Dear Ms. Eismann,
    Thank you for the note regarding Sidney Carton.  I haven't yet read A Tale
Of Two Cities, but I'll go get it if it looks like it may be helpful.  Sounds
like Sidney had either bipolar disorder or cyclothymic disorder.  Is there any
other evidence in the book of Sidney's highs and lows?  Deep depression or
very manicky behavior, like sleeplessness, recklessness, crazy exuberence?
    Which university are you associated with?
