Dear Mr. Dickens,
I have long thought that your descriptions of the character of Sidney
Carton matche what
is today labelled "bipolar" syndrome, or manic depression. Here is the
line that strikes me as especially presicent:
"the old seesaw Sydney. Up one minute and down the next; now in spirits
and now in despondency!"
