My dear Mr Che,
I am far from sure what you have in mind when you speak of parallels. The
French Revolution began with hope of a better freer world and an end to
arbitrary government. It descended into bloodshed and terror. And it
finally yielded arbitrary government - a more effective one, to be sure, but
that is not something the peoples of Europe rejoiced in. In vain do I
search for resemblances between this and my book. You must prompt me if you
wish me to discover something here.
Faithfully yours,
Charles Dickens
