My dear Mr Chis,

Estella, do you not see, is all too eager to learn the lesson Miss
Havisham teaches? She accepts it is her role in life to make men love her
and then to break their hearts. She accepts the heritage of Miss Havisham's
hatred as readily as that of her wealth. But she reckons without her own
heart. Though she breaks Pip's, she makes efforts not to. Nor did she
calculate on a Bentley Drummle to subdue her and make her life as miserable
as she had planned to make his.

Faithfully yours,

Charles Dickens
