My dear Mr Weller,

"Great Expectations" is fiction. In writing it, I decided it best suited the understanding of Miss Havisham, and of her effect on those around her, that her Christian name be unknown. I therefore gave her none. I could invent one now if I chose, but it would have little to do with the novel I finished so many years ago. Nor would it be better or truer than one you invent yourself. Feel free to do that, if your imagination is in need of such a name.

Faithfully yours,

Charles Dickens

What is Miss Havisham's (from Great Expectations) first name?
