Greater Expectations

Mr. Dickens...

A jolly good day to you, sir! I was wondering what you thought of the most
recent cinematic production of your smashing story that Mmle. Paltrow
portrayed with just a touch more warmth than, I believe, was intended by
you... and a good deal more skin, I might add. I realize you are at a
disadvantage in totally understanding our society, but did you feel the
essence remained intact?

Also, not having the book in front of me, did you mean to insinuate that that
dastardly person who "shackled" Maggie's brains, had insinuated himself upon
her previously in a highly personal manner (and with her permission, it
seems)? ...or was that a film director's licence?

Thank you,
Charles Glendinning
