Pat,

Kees makes a very good point of using the various figures from the different
countries to illustrate your point.

I would suggest looking at some of the historical speeches.  Immediately those
that come to mind are:

FDR: request for a declaration of war against Japan.

Churchill:  speech on the fall of France.  "Nothing to offer but, blood, sweat
and tears."

Churchill:  speech on the Battle of Britian. "Never have so many, owed so much
to so few."

Churchill:  speech on the attack of the Germans into Russia.

Others should include some of Hitler's speeches immediately before Munich and
in August of 1939.

Another approach:  Invite a veteran to come speak to the class.  Ask him when
he found out about the Holocaust.  Perhaps a panel of veterans or others from
that time.  Maybe you can find someone who worked on an assembly line during
the war.
