I have never been in a concentration. I was an internment camp in the
United States. I was an American citizen of German ancestry and interned
along with my permanent resident aliens in two internment facilities. Ellis
Island, NY and Crystal City, Texas. My Japanese-American counterparts refer
to these as "cocnentration camps." But in no fashion were they like the
"concentration camps you are asking about. You may visit my website at
<http://www.netzone.com/~adjacobs> it has several hyperlinks which tell the
story in detail. This is part of the home front USA war that is rarely
talked about. In fact, it is often "shoved under the rug," quieted.
>What was it like?
Loss of freedom. But we went to school, we played, and had a swimming pool
at Crystal City, Texas. The camp included Japanese, Germans and
Italians--all either American citizens (minors) or their permanent resident
parent aliens.

Extremely well--except for the incarceration
