I am a theatre director from the island of Malta and currently I am =
involved in a theatre in education project about WWII. My country, lying =
in the heart of the mediterranean was ruled by the British from =
1800-1964 and miraculously resisted surrender to the Fascist forces, =
depite of continues air raid bombing both from Italian Macchi aeroplanes =
and the deadly German Stukas.
In my project I am not focusing on the attacks which Malta underwent =
during the war. Rather it is related to Holocaust Survivors. I am more =
interested to show the students what the survivors had to face after the =
Holocaust experience, rather than during the holocaust, for the very =
simple reason, that while most of the students which will attend to the =
project, know what happened in the camps, very few of them if any, know =
what those inmates had to face after they were released.=20
I have read Anton Gill's perfect account of some Holocaust Survivors he =
met in his excellent book The Journey Back from Hell, but would prefer =
to have more accounts. I can imagine that this is a very delicate =
subject to tackle, but I believe that concentration camps' ex-inmates =
are still fighting their battle against their tragic past.
I have also introduced myself and given a very brief account of what my =
country went through in the Second World War so that if anyone is =
interested to discover more, I am ready to give further information.
Thanking you all,
Immanuel Mifsud
