Yes,  the U.S. did great things in WW II and many brave men gave
their lives in the struggle.
However, it was not to end the Holocaust. WW II did not start
because of the Holocaust and was not fought because of the
Holocaust.  U.S. troops only found out about the camps when
they arrived at their gates and where then terribly shocked.
Unfortunately, the U.S., as most countries, did nothing at all
to prevent the Holocaust from happening.

But that is past, we should all now try to  make sure that such
things never happen again to anyone.
