Walter gave an excellent account of rationing in Germany,
some points he made I has forgotten about.  One of the
additional specific recycling drives I recall was for the
"Bismark" battleship.  We pulled handcarts through the streets
collecting for the Bismark, and somehow it allowed people to
have a focus for their contributions which appeared to me,
in retrospect, to have yielded more 'material' than when we
occasionally did 'general' collections.
