As well as asking for the actual memories of people on this
list/panel it may be worth checking out video resources like "The
World at War" series which I think was made by Jeremy Isaacs and
narrated by Laurence Olivier? Cinema newsreels, although sometimes
slanted for propaganda purposes, ,are a good resource.
