I'm reading the questions from all of the students in Hawaii. I'd like to
suggest something to you and prehaps you are already engaged in this project.
Hawaii during WWII was very different from the Hawaii of today. Hawaii also
was in the most dangerous location of all of the states, and the responses to
WWII and local regulations were very different from those in any other place
in the U. S. Perhaps you could do some oral history in Hawaii and then let
us know what you find. I only know of one publication about the civilians in
Hawaii during the war and would like to learn more while the living resources
are still alive to tell us. Mary E. Haas
