Darrell I can only endorse that which Jan Mokrzycki has written.
war is hell for sensitive souls. It is those who suffer most though going
though such.

You could follow your father' war experiences by finding the records of
his unit. Most likely in the war archives of the War Deptmentof your
country. Then following the war correspondance news reports of those
times and prts of the front. It will not be easy but it would be
interesting and rewarding. You never know by the way you write there
could be a book inside you. :) Good luck
