I have tried to remember any posters or slogans in use during WWII. I,
like Ernest Blaschke, lived in Vienna during that time and also like him I
remember the newsreels preceding movies. However because of my age I did
not see any movies made for adult viewing and these would have been the
ones which would have had a propaganda theme.
I do remember one slogan which featured on posters and also in propaganda
short stories.
It featured the 'Kohlenklau' (Energy waster),these sort of films would
feature a one person who wasted important resources and another person
would teach him how wrong this was.
As for the underground, to talk about that sort of activity could have
provide a person with an one way ticket to a concentration camp.
I do have a three part video tape of a BBC production with the title 'We
have ways of making you think'. The first part of this tape is about the
German propaganda machine and the man in charge, Joseph Goebbels. I would
recommend this video to anyone who wishes to know why his way of making
one think was so successful.
