Bombing Targets

I do sincerely hope that I have not created to much of a problem with the
problem I asked in regards to the bombing of concentration camps. The question
orginated from my oldest son (15) who has been studying WWII in school and had
been to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C (a visit he said that
was one of the most memorable experiences of his life).

Trust me in that I have the utmost appreciation to the job the AAF and RAF
did in World War II. Bombers and there crews flew increadably long missions
under unbearable conditions (below 0 degree temperatures, just for 1) and then
were asked to do all over again in the next day or so.

Many in my generation think that "the longest day" is about June 21st each
year. The reality is that it was 52 years ago today. Many brave soldiers gave
there lives so that my generation would be here today. And to the survivors of
that "longest day" all I can say is "Thank You".

I have asked my father (served in the AAF) and uncle ( a veteran of the
landing at Omaha beach) and although they did not have a clear answer to the
bombing targets question. They both did indicate that until the camps were
liberated the extend of the carnage was not fully known.
