Certainly it would have been dangerous to bomb the camps themselves,
but it would have been easy to bomb the train tracks leading to
them. This was an option considered and rejected by the Allied command
(at the highest civilian levels), for reasons I cannot fathom.
Sorry to post off the topic of this list, but it's an important
subject and should not be shrugged off. It's our obligation to examine
the decisions made by our leaders in the past, in order to learn how
we can do better in the future.
