Tom: You spoke of dodging U-boats and thus receieving supplies. I wonder
where you might have been on Christas Eve 1944? I was crossing the Channel
(NOT via chunnel as I did a few weks ago!) when the last U-boat torpedoing
occurred, sinkin (eventually) the Leopoldville. We were not far away on the
Princess Charlotte,headed for the bulge. Instead we were sent to western
France to contain the Wehrmacht in the submatine pens.
