Thank you for such a fascinating piece about rationing
of food during WW2. Your descriptions of making your
own soap from your own animals, and the wonderful story
of the elk that was 'stashed' in a snowbank, made exotic
reading for this London Schoolboy. For us, America was
a land of milk and honey; we would hear of ships that
had managed to dodge the Uboats and arrived at Liverpool
docks, groaning with good things to eat. I suppose we
imagined that you had everything you could ever need...

I really enjoyed reading it and I hope we can encourage
some of the schools reading this to ask grandparents
for similar stories.
