Hello Sarah, thank you for writing to this list.
Our list is mostly for schools and it is to give young
people an opportunity to question retired people about
the war - most of them were at school during the war years,
or were maybe just a bit older.

There is a much bigger list which is read by lots of
veterans and vet organisations. It's called wwii-l
and the listserver is at listserv@ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu
I think you will have far better luck there. We do
have combattants reading this list, but are generally
more interested on the effects of war on civilian
populations.

Very true. And often the history books have even less
to say about the women and children and old people who
are affected by war, concentrating largely on the
political and military aspects.
