I served in the Army for almost three years (1943-1946), fifteen months of
which were spent in Englnad, France, Germany and Austria. I belonged to the
287th Engineer Combat Battalion. In France (Jan-Mar 1945) we were assigned
to box in the Ger sn forces t the submarine pens in St. Nazaire and Lorient.
We then followed General Patton across Germany, often preparing his Third
Army Headquarters. My last assignment was in Military Government in Austria
(May to Dec. 1945) I shipped home from France, and was mustered out in Feb.
1946. Be glad to fill in gaps you might be interested in.
