While traveling around the county of Rohrbach in Upper Austria, I discovered
a castle high on the banks of the Danube, called Scloss Rannariedl. There
were many refugess living there and soon a very tall and handsome woman came
out, saying that she was the owner. She spoke excellent English and I asked
her how come. She said that she and her husband, German owners of the
castle, had visited America in the '20s. I asked her where and she named my
home state. I asked her where in the state and she named my home town!!!
Thereafter, our whole Military Government office people (including two
countesses!) were regularly invited to the castle for music and schnapps!
