Internship applications for the Summer of 1996 must be post marked by
March 15, 1996. I have attatched a copy of the application form. Please
see below.
Dear Prospective Intern:
Thank you for your interest in an internship position at the
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The Museum is a complex, multi-faceted institution dedicated to
education and public service. Our intern program provides an opportunity
for qualified candidates to learn about the Holocaust as well as museum
operations. Included are hands-on projects and oppurtunities to meet
with Holocaust scholars and museum professionals to discuss their roles,
responsibilites, and backgrounds.
Enclosed is a description of the program and application. To be
considered, please return your completed application packet by the
deadline noted on the application form. If we find that your skills and
talents are a good match for a position, we will contact you for a
telephone interview.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum offers intern opportunities
in the areas of Holocaust research and Museum studies.
Research internships are available for work with historians and other
scholars in academic programs, as well as in the Archives, Library, Photo
Archives, Film and Video Department, Learning Center, Oral History
Department and the Registry of Holocaust Survivors. Candidates
interested in research projects should have a background in Modern
European History and be familiar with and preferably fluent in a European
languange.
Museum Studies internships may be available in other departments of the
Museum on an as needed basis. Candidates interested in Musuem Studies
should demonstrate a proficiency and background in thier field of
interest.
Internships ordinarily last for one semester and are either half-time or
full-time positions. Internship opportunities are open to college
students, college graduates, graduate students, career-changers, and
those re-entering the work force. U.S. Citizenship is not required.
A limited number of paid internships are available and are highly
competitive. Most internships are unpaid.
Interested candidates are required to submit a completed application
form, current resume, two letters of recommendation, and a brief personal
statement that is seperate from a cover letter to the Museum postmarked
by the appropriate deadline indicated on the application form. For more
