Gene Halski said I can send this out if I think it will help and
not aggravate. Whether that is so, of course, is up to our many
readers. I think it makes an important point though....

"About 26 years ago I was coming home from a dinner/dance at the
German Club for Language and Culture in Atlanta. My youngest son,
Tony, who was waiting for me to come home, said, "Pop, How come you
are going to the German Club? You told us so many stories of all the
hard times you suffered as a prisoner-of-war in German camps. How
can you be friends with Germans now?"

I said, "Even during the war there were good German people who
treated me with kindness and respect -- like a human being. The
people at the German Club treat me with respect. I don't want to
condemn a whole people for the actions of some."

Gene has been a member in good standing for 26 years.
