May I pass on a big thank you to Dot for most excelent story of wartime
London.
As an old Londoner Dot's story rings all too very true. And she tells it
like it was. I too was brought up in London in the borough of West Ham,
known now as Newham. Being near the London docks it got more than its share
of bombing. I was a teenager too. Before I was called up I adopted the
attitude of enjoying myself while I could. Never was the old quote, "Eat,
drink and be merry for tomorrow we die", so true. The eating and drinking
were not so true for us in war time rationing.
I look forward to Dot's continued saga.
