THE NEW
HUMANISM IDEALS
Nothing above the human being
and no human being below another.
We are focussing the Humanist philosophy on the following basic points:
· Each human being
must know what is most important in life: to know whether want to continue
living and under which conditions we want to do it.
· Every human being
has the right to choose freely and any violation of this freedom is nothing but
violence.
· In the present
moment, humanism stresses the moral duty of every human being of struggling
against growing violence and injustice.
· To face social and
personal problems efficiently we have to give a new direction to our lives,
trying to achieve coherence among what we think, what we feel and what we do.
· We are living in a
close relationship with others and it is precisely by working together with
others that we will act to give a favourable direction to our situation.
· So, even when we
are acting very specifically in our immediate environment, we never forget the
global situation affecting all human beings and that they need our help just as
we need the help of others.
· Our aspiration is
to achieve simultaneously social change and personal development.
Summing up, we want
to treat others as we would have them treat us.
We are a group of people from different cultures, countries and beliefs. Together we become organised, grow and strengthen ourselves. We do all this to spur great changes and to give orientation to bring about a true human society. Then it will be possible to recover the value of the human being and the meaning of life.
THE HUMANIST
MOVEMENT
The Humanist Movement started at the end of the 60s. It was founded by Mario Rodriguez Cobos, better known as Silo, who is a Latin American thinker, writer and the creator of New Humanism. Since then the Humanist Movement has spread to over 90 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and America.
The Humanist Movement develops different activities and creates various organisations which are suitable to work on specific areas. For example, the Community for Human Development in the cultural area, the Humanist Party in the political area, the Humanist News Agencies, Centres for Cultures, the World Centre for Humanist Studies, the International Federation of Human Aid, the World Without Wars and Without Violence Organization, electronic magazines, the Humanist Economic Network and the Humanist International.
In this moment the Humanist Movement counts on two hundred thousand active members and more than five hundred thousand of sympathisers.
The humanist people besides developing our action to change the world, also understand that such transformation should take place in our inner self. Therefore, we carry out personal work to get in touch with our inner force, to communicate better, to strengthen our faith and our meaning in life. For that we meet periodically in houses, centres, work places, schools, etc.
To humanise the earth. This is
our project.
