Several recent scurrilous emails to this group, purporting to come from me,
the moderator, lead me to believe that the time has come to close the
Timewitnesses group. There has been very little traffic of a sensible nature
for the last year and so it will not be missed.
I very much regret this. It confirms my opinion that the 'freedom' so often
spoken of in the context of 'The Free World' consists largely of ensuring
that all elements of society are free to behave in an unacceptable manner at
the expense of others. We see this in the geo-political sphere as well as on
the Internet. The lessons of the 1940s are not being learned, as can be seen
by a quick look at some of the pictures of hundreds of burnt, wounded and
traumatised children at http://www.robert-fisk.com/
The website at http://timewitnesses.org continues to grow and I thank all
those who have helped to make it useful for schools around the world.
