There are several sites online about the sinking of the Leopoldville,
but I am more interested in your experience of joining the ranks of
those at St. Lo. My uncle was a Sgt with the 242nd infantry 66th
division. He was rotated out about the time the relief troops in Dec
were coming in. His family is trying to put together something that
would give them an idea of the troop movement from the time of it's
landing on Omaha's beach in Jun 1944. We have just put together what
occurred in Dec to the later units of the 242 and 243 with the sinking
of the Leopoldville, and were wondering if you came in contact with
the other battalions of the 242 which had landed earlier and fought at
St. Lo on their way inland to Paris and Belgium.
