As for "childhood memories impacted by the fascist regimes of (WW2)" -- I can only say that there can be very few alive at that time who were NOT impacted by this war. This includes those like myself, relatively safe in England, and those such as Lothar Metzger in Dresden, subjected to the deliberate fire-bombing of an entire civilian city of no military importance whatsoever. Even those whose lives weren't directly threatened by death and violence were unable to escape the impact -- their lives turned upside-down by the insane logic of wartime governments. (I'm thinking here of Ellen and Arthur Jacobs - both of whom ended up behind barbed wire -- 'OUR' barbed wire, not fascist barbed wire -- you'll find their stories at http://timewitnesses.org/english/stories.html and they may be willing to respond to your email questions.)
