Julie,

I was born in 1932 and lived in a poor coal mining area of Pennsylvania.

Later, during grade school WWII years, I lived in a poor section of
Brooklyn, NY and was lucky enough to spend the summer vacations on a
farm and a town in Pennsylvania , while most of my school chums remained
in New York City. We later moved back to Pennsylvania where I spent my
High School years.

You can ask me specific questions about those years but my memories,
which are very vivid, are highly opinionated based on my experiences.
Fun games were played at grade school and after school in New York but
living on a farm was fun itself for a city kid, I learned somthing new
every day and was given many very responsible tasks which I would have
never been able to perform as a city dweller.

It would be too difficult and lengthy to recount all my experiences
during that time.

During the 50's I was in the service and spent two years at Myrtle
Beach, SC.

What grade are you doing this report for???

Regards,

Ron Gillen
