That's a difficult one Alison -- many of them will be about 100 years old by
now -- maybe just a few on this list who had evacuees billeted with them
when they were children.

I find it difficult enough to remember how I felt when I was evacuated.  I
can't remember being unhappy -- I just took it all as it happened. It's
interesting to look at the pictures if you click on
http://www.sol.co.uk/s/stThomas/evacuees_photos.htm and you'll notice that
only one child is crying, in fact most of them are looking quite cheerful. I
think the families we were given to probably felt the same -- we all just
"got on with it".
