Dear Ms. Clark: Thank you for your interest in contributing your story of growing up during WWII for "When We Were Young: Children of WWII." I am asking participants who have never written a recollection or memoir about their childhood to write something between 1,000-5,000 words, and the ones I have received so far are wonderful! Some stories recall a specific event, such as the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and others tell a more general recollection of growing up during WWII. How long is the manuscript that you suggest sending to me? I would be happy to take a look at it. The recollections will probably be amended to incorporate more background information, if needed. To that end, I have developed an Information Sheet that will provide me with your biography. I am attaching it here. I am also attaching a letter from the publisher that requires your signature granting us permission to use your story. Please let me know if you have any trouble reading the attachments or any questions regarding them. Please return them to me at your earliest convenience. Good news from the publisher...All participants whose stories are included in the book will receive a copy of the book upon publication! Thank you again for your interest. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or information you would like to add. I look forward to hearing from you again. Best wishes, Tracy At 07:13 AM 9/8/01 +0100, you wrote: >Yes, fine! Just let me know what you want me to do.
