From: steros@aladdinscave.net I wonder if anyone here can help me? My mother was born in Germany in 1932, and lived in Soest in Westfalen. She told me that she was too young to join the Hitler Youth, although both her sisters were members. However, none of her four brothers (all older than her by up to 10 years) took part, which seems very odd as I understand that membership was compulsory. She also says that none of her family remembers any pressure being put on them to join. None of this makes any sense to me, and I wonder if certain parts of Germany (possibly the more rural areas) weren't targeted in the same way that the larger towns and cities were. I'd be grateful for any input! TIA. Rosie. ------------------------ Yahoo!
