Hello Mark Sampson -- you said...

the like.

Unfortunately almost anyone taking part in this will either be a school
looking for anecdotal information about the 1940s and 1950s, or retired and
elderly people who were civilians or children in Europe during those years.

There is a list with a searchable archive that deals with searches as you
describe at http://listserv.buffalo.edu/archives/wwii-l.html and I recommend
that you subscribe to that and put your question to them. It may even be
possible to search their archive without joining the list.
