Particularly the stories of those individuals on all sides of the conflict caught in such an historic, horrifying and overwhelming event such as we witnessed in WWII. Like you and your father being caught up in events that you nor he had control over and how you felt about it. I read your story and was moved. I was just curious about your fathers fate. I also have family friends from around Stugart (Ludwigsburg) and they as well lost fathers and brothers during the war. Actually, I told them I would try to help find out where one of them died and is buried (If there is a record of it) in Russia but have not made any headway as of yet. I try to read as much about the events as possible. If you would like to read a good book, I would highly suggest reading "The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer. It is one of the best books I have ever read. It is the story of a French/German Boy of 17 who is drafted into the German Army and chronicles his story of trying to survive on the Easter Front during WWII. It is a very moving book. Anyway, thanks again for answering my e-mail and I wish you the best of luck.
