Judas Maccabeus! in anticipation of a concert in the autumn. As someone
newly retired it is wonderful to get back to doing the things which I
used to love and slowly (with motherhood and 70 hour working weeks)
discarded. I am also rediscovering the simple pleasure in reading a
book! - previously relegated to holidays.

.....and on Tom's note re purpose. I very much enjoy some of these warm
friendly mails about the weather in N.America or discovery of fellow
alumni in Oz etc. (not so keen on the petty annoyances- prefer PMA
myself!) If this is not the vehicle for such things pls may we have
one??? I find some of the debate in our media about the UK and the EU
spurious - we are there already. I prefer to be a cittadina del mondo -
and these mails move one towards that.

Good wishes
