Math Olympics Warm-Up Guidelines
The bi-monthly Math Olympic Warm-Ups are practice competitions that
help teachers and students prepare for the main event. Schools have their
choice of using either the Numbers Munchers software or the Math Munchers
software by MECC. Schools should not report scores for both for the same
classes.
Dates for the Math Olympic Warm-Ups
-
October 8-14, 2002
-
December 3-9, 2002
-
February 4-10, 2003
General Guidelines for all Software
-
A teacher or parent needs to supervise the competition while students are
using the program. This will help "officiate" the results and reduce the
desire to challenge the scores of another student.
-
Number Munchers game utilizes Multiplication without time outs. There is
a 30-minute time limit when reporting scores for the Number Munchers competition.
The same software without time limitations is the Math Marathon competition
events. Multiples should be set for "in order" instead of "random".
-
Each class reports their three highest scores plus a class average of all
the students for Number Munchers and Math Munchers but not for the Math
Marathon events.
-
Students may practice the game as often as the teacher allows, but only
two official "tries" under teacher or parent supervision are allowed.
Number Munchers Guidelines
