Grammar Marathon
April 30-May 6, 2004

Grammar Marathon is still in the experimental stages.  Just as in Math Olympics and Spelling Marathon, Grammar Marathon  encourages all students in a class to learn Grammar facts with both accuracy and speed. There are individual events and class average events to encourage team spirit and effort by all class members.  This project is for Grades 1-5 or for those special education classes who work at that grade level. The Grammar Marathon Warmups will only use the Grammar Category. The spring competition will use the last Category on each grade level which is a combination of all of the Categories.

During the annual  Grammar Marathon competition in the spring of each year, certificates are awarded to all classes that participate and ribbons are given to top three winners in all events

Software

Grammar Marathon uses Word Munchers Delux from The Learning Company  which previously was MECC. This version can be run on a Mac or an IBM/compatible computer. Word Munchers Delux is only for grades 1 through 5.

There are a variety of prices for Word Munchers Delux. The School Edition from The Learning Company is about $50.00. This month of September, (and as long as supplies last),  Parsons Technology, has been offering a home version of Word Munchers Delux for $9.95 (Win 3.1, Win 95 & Mac). 1 800 779 6000

Date of the Annual Competition of the Grammar Marathon is April 8-14, 2003, the same time as the Spelling Marathon .
