Please take another look at Granny

The GRANNY'S KITCHEN List was set up in September 96 but has never
really got going. As I _thought_ the (attached separately) welcome
message makes plain, it's _PRIMARILY_ about kitchens and recipes, but
at any time it can be extended to include nutrition, health, eating
habits, first aid, gardening, school meals, clothing, travelling to
school, any activity that can loosely be called 'domestic' and which
has seen changes over the last 50 years. Generally speaking, I saw it
as a domestic version of the MEMORIES Project (which is about the
effects of war on civililians).

I think that when I decided a couple of months ago to re-launch it I
very foolishly didn't go back and consult with anyone - I just went
ahead with creating my own implementation plan. I'm sorry for that
now, but I hope that this belated attempt al consulting the Elders on
the list, plus a couple of other people, will make up for it.
Basically WE CAN CHANGE ANYTHING - the name, the welcome message, the
emphasis on food/kitchens, ANYTHING.

I've put into effect the following:-

* I've asked my colleague Mez Packer to be co-listowner (she teaches
teachers how to use the Internet)
* I've asked my asistant Matt Jarvis to totally recast the GRANNY web
pages (new draft version goes up next week)
* I've got an appointment with the Headteacher of Clapham Terrace
Primary School tomorrow to get a year 5 class involved
* I have a semi-appointment with a teacher at Campion Secondary
School who has expressed interest
* I've bought 3 copies of WW2 recipe books to give to schools to
'prime the ideas pump'.
* I'm copying this message to some expert colleagues who I have
worked with over the years in the hope that they will be able to
offer advice.

And finally - belatedly - I am starting this debate, using the list,
which I hope, with your help, will improve the final 'product'.
