Hello Sandy,
Wow ... You're from my neck of the woods. I was born in Ottawa, but raised
mostly in Hamilton - Toronto area. Many happy hours spent at my aunt &
uncles in Kitchener!
Well, I must say, I'm glad to see that youth is not wasted on the young! -
You seem to have captured God's true intent for life - living it to the
fullest .
Now for that recipe -My dad used to always make this one for me because I
used to get those really nasty hang-nail things on the sides of my finger
cuticles - and of course I HAD to pull them and then they would go and get
infected. Dad would get out the whole milk, a pull of bread ( that's Irish
for a middle piece without the crust) and the teaspoon. Place the milk in
the teaspoon, heat on the gas stove (or any other convenient source of
heat), JUST to simmering - that's when the little bubbles start to show up
on the edges of the milk. Dip the bread into the milk - be careful not to
burn your fingers, wait until it cools and is just warm enough so you can
tolerate it on the infected area, place neatly over the infection, and place
a plaster (Band-Aid) over it and leave on for 24 hours. The way I understand
it ... the yeast in the bread reacts with the casein (a protein) in the
milk and when you put the yeast with it, it draws and pulls out the
infection, not to mention that it makes a nice protective 'cast' of sorts.
Well Sandy - I hope this is what you wanted, and I pray that it will trigger
many happy memories. You triggered some for me just by telling me where you
are from.

OH BTW I now live in Iowa USA
