Out of dim memory, I remember "1 to 4-6" as a formula learned in a Home
Nursing course required of high school students during World War II.  I
think it meant 1 part dry mustard to 4 to 6 parts flour.  Does that
sound right?  It must have been mixed with water, then put on cloth and
placed on the chest.

Once again we're talking about generating heat which is probably its
benefit.
