Hi all,

there is nothing so much fun as to compare things like this. I have no
idea how to answer the lady's questions because I live in Rochester, NY,
USA, and all that she says about customery things in the Eastern US is
true. Comparison of how English changes from region to region in the US
is compounded by the ways English changes between the US, Australia and
Britain. Pudding isn't at all the same thing to us. In the US pudding
refers to what Britishers might call mouse. Whereas pudding to them, is
more like cake is to us. When I was visiting England with my chorus I was
introduced to ham and salad sandwiches. At first I thought that it meant
ham salad, ground up ham with mayonaise and spices, sort of like chicken
salad. But no, it means a sandwich with slices of ham and cucumber..
It's very good I might add.

Here's a trivia question for you. What is a milk shake called in Boston,
MA USA?? I won a CD over the radio a year ago because I knew the answer.
